What say you?
This is the last post before I come back from my missions trip (which is the main reason I haven't posted in so long).
Basically I really want to know your opinion on this shot. What do you think of the composition, colors, angles, etc... (this is something I'm gonna do every once in a while so tell me what you think and don't hold back..... I take everything with a grain of salt anyway :-)

Well, I know nothing about photography. I just push the little button on the top of the camera (after my brother has turned the darn thing on for me), so get your salt shaker ready.
I like her face, or what you can see of it. I like how rich the colors in her hair look. Also, I think it's kind of interesting that you can't be certain if she's smiling or not. I like the little bounce of glare on her glasses.
I'm wondering if it hadn't been such a close up shot, if she would have been more of a point of interest (like a surprise for the second glance) in a simple picture. This close, I feel like I'm not certain what the shot is about. That's the only criticism I can come up with, if you can even call it criticism. =)
Well Samantha, I will tell you that she is in fact smiling and the whole point of the shot is to make you think about it...... I personally like the fact that you can't see her face completely which draws your eye to her hair and the rich highlights therein. As you are pondering the hair you come to the solitary clip in the hair and so you look for other things like you can see the eyelash but not the eye, and the glasses, and the way her head is tilted, etc.... I don't know..... I just like it. It's just one of those shots that make you think about stuff that doesn't get shot very much. Like most of the time we (photographers and the like) focus on the face and how best to make it look in the shot but don't realize you don't have to have a face in the shot to have a good shot. Thanks fot the comment. :-)

Man, it's pretty cool that you put all that thought into your pictures. My sister (who's an art major) really liked it. It's definitely a shot that makes you take a second look.
